Plant

With bright green, fleshy flattened V-shaped leaf.

Flowers

Mid blue, rarely opens. Column violet at the base, top yellow opening upwards in a deep oval cleft with a rolled edge, a dark band between. Column arms with dense white, crinkled cilia.

Flowering

November - December.

Habitat

Wetlands, thriving in black ooze. Kaitaia northwards, local.

Conservation

Few localities. Threatened - Nationally Critical..

Notes

Like T. “darkie” in column form and colour but differing in habitat and flower, stem or leaf not as dark. Voucher specimen (WELT79140; Ahipara)

Key features

Peaty wetland habitat, column violet, cleft at the top, column arms with crinkly cilia.
