With sessile, heart-shaped orbicular-cordate 20-30x 15-20mm.
Flowers
Short stalked, above the leaf. Labellum blackish crimson, dorsal sepal with greenish flecks, much longer than labellum. Labellum an almost straight horizontal tube on young flowers but the tip drops down a little at maturity, holding the point well clear of the ovary.

October - November.
Habitat
Wet, mossy, shady stream banks. Northland.
Conservation
Naturally uncommon, sparse.
Notes
The name Corybas rivularis was formerly used for Corybas acuminatus or confused with other species. It has also been used to encompass any streamside .
Key features
The dark, almost bell shaped labellum is quite distinct.
