Corybas “Hump”

Plant

With almost round sterile leaves. Flowering leaves ovate with hastate base and a small mucro. Flower above the leaf.

Flowers

Labellum white or pale pink with few prominent wide-spaced stripes. Tepals long, cruciform. Dorsal sepal longer than labellum weakly domed.

Flowering

December.

Habitat

Largely unknown, alpine grassland and scrub. Fiordland (Hump Ridge), Auckland and Campbell Is.

Conservation

Yet to be determined.

Notes

Poorly known. May be more widespread in SI. Flower rather like a C. acuminatus without the long dorsal and pointed labellum base.

Key features

Distinctive flower with widely spaced stripes, very deep flared labellum.
