Plant

Less than 30cm tall with up to 10 slender flowers.

Flowers

With tubular brown ridged straight buds which rarely open to show white petals and sepals and a yellow labellum. Column short.

Flowering

November - January.

Habitat

Often grows under manuka, pines, kamahi or gorse, or amongst Spanish heather. Widespread.

Conservation

Uncommon, and usually only a few plants, not threatened.

Notes

Distinguished by the smooth stem; few, smooth, narrow flowers.

Key features

Small plant, few smooth to ribbed flowers that scarcely open.
