Plant

With heart shaped leaves.

Flowers

Blackish red with small green area on labellum, dorsal sepal noticeably rough and warty, often with traces of green towards base. Does not project beyond the labellum. Flower can be above or below the leaf.

Flowering

November-December.

Habitat

Seepages and small ponding areas in montane to sub-alpine beech forest, Currently known from Nelson Lakes Dstrict and northern Westland.

Conservation

Naturally uncommon.

Notes

Was tagged C. “darkie”.

Key features

Dark flower, dorsal sepal not protruding beyond the labellum.
