Plant

Usually 10-20cm tall with 2 long stiff narrow leaves 10-15 x 1.5-2cm.

Flowers

2-3 green, conspicuously hooded, 10–20mm long, often marked with red or brown.

Flowering

December - February.

Habitat

In damp alpine or montane scrub and herbfields. Ruapehu southwards.

Conservation

Locally common and abundant; not threatened.

Notes

Often camouflaged but quite distinct.

Key features

2 narrow, leaves, alpine wetland habitat.
