Thelymitra "tholinigra"
Sun Orchid PLANT: Terrestrial tuberous herb.
Up to 43cm high when in flower. LEAVES: Single. To 30cm long. Shallow concave. Stiff & leathery. Dark olive with reddish margins.
FLOWERS: Up to 12 flowers. Each to 38mm across. Pale mauve, fragrant. Dorsal sepal wider than lateral sepals. Petals & labellum slightly smaller than sepals, also a paler mauve. Column inclined slightly backwards, pale pink. Top of the column domed, brownish-black. Lateral lobes horizontal, with dense tufts of white or pink cilia.
FLOWERING TIME: October.
HABITAT: Open areas amongst scrub.
CONSERVATION STATUS: Not Recorded.
NOTES: Similar to Thelymitra longifolia and T. aff longifolia, but with a brownish-black, domed, post anther lobe to the column. |
