Pterostylis emarginata
Greenhood PLANT: Terrestrial tuberous herb.
Stem stout, erect, green, sometimes with a reddish tinge, 20 - 40 cm high. LEAVES: Grassy. Usually 4 - 6. Often keeled. 12 - 17 cm long.
FLOWER: Single. 2.5 - 3cm high. Green with white stripes. Dorsal sepal very long. Petals much shorter than the dorsal sepal. Lateral sepals diverge at a narrow angle, tips very long and erect. Sepal tips often tinged with orange or red. Labellum with a distinctive notch at the tip.
FLOWERING TIME:
October - December. HABITAT: Light forest and scrub.
CONSERVATION STATUS: Not Recorded.
NOTES: Very similar to Pterostylis banksii, but distinguished by the distinctive notch at the tip of the labellum. |
