PLANT: Terrestrial tuberous herb.
3 to 5cm high when in flower.

LEAVES: Single leaf, 3 x 3.5cm, orbicular to oblong-oval. Shortly petiolate. Upper surface yellow-green with sparse dark purple spots.

FLOWER: Solitary. Dorsal sepal long, extending well forward of the labellum, spotted with red. Labellum broad, coloured translucent maroon. Lateral sepals filiform, long and spreading. Petals almost as long as lateral sepals.

FLOWERING TIME:
August - September.

HABITAT: Mossy banks in the spray zone of a waterfall.

CONSERVATION STATUS: Not Recorded.

NOTES: Similar to N longipetalum but with a dark maroon labellum.
Only recorded from beneath the Bridal Veil Falls near Raglan.
